The decision to improve measures to counter illegal migration was taken at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Minsk on November 30, 2017.
Taking into account the urgency of the issues related to the suppression of illegal migration, and in order to improve cooperation of law enforcement agencies of the CSTO member states in the course of events held annually in the Organization format under the code name Nelegal, the Heads of State signed a decision on giving these activities the status of a permanent regional operation CSTO and approved the Regulation on the operation "Illegal".
The document was prepared within the framework of the implementation of the priorities proposed by Belarus for the period of its chairmanship in the Organization. Giving Operation Nelegal the status of a permanently operating CSTO operation will increase the flexibility and efficiency of the activities undertaken. It will be possible to carry out the operation in certain areas and coordinate it with the operational and preventive measures implemented at the national level to counteract illegal migration.
